Analytical strength assessment - sintered steel

The research on the strength assessment of sintered steel started in Germany in 1980 with a joint industry research project in which application-related design values for sintered steels have been derived . It was followed by other joint research projects that investigated

design aspects, process depending influences on the fatigue strength or the behavior under contact pressure. For selected alloys, the influence of notches or mean stresses  was investigated. Even though a lot of investigations have been performed, a generalized assessment approach based on a larger data basis has not yet been not established. This might be reasoned by a lack of standardization of the powders resp. materials or the fact, that the creation of codes and guidelines is typically not public funded.
